MP3 Goggles

MP3 Goggles

Swimmer without musicI had a dilemma. I frequently swim but like to listen to music while I work out.

Of course, my digital music player and earphones were not designed to work under those conditions. If I got them wet, the only song they would be playing is the "Sound of Silence." (Ok, bad joke. I know. Back to the point.)

Waterproof Headphones and Earphones

Waterproof headphones are specially designed to withstand water. Heavy water exposure will destroy most sets. Waterproof headphones are particularly popular with simmers.

If you swim frequently to stay in shape, good for you. It can also get boring though. Lap after lap after lap. That’s why some like to listen to some music in the pool. You’ll need a set of waterproof headphones with your waterproof music player.

Waterproof MP3 Players

Like I've said before, I swim a lot and I like to listen to music. So I frequently use MP3 goggles but those aren't for everybody. An alternative for those hoping to listen to music while swimming is waterproof MP3 players. These are digital music players designed specifically to work under water.

Typical digital music players like an iPod or Zune aren’t waterproof. They might be water-resistant and able to handle some moisture, but completely submerging them in water can completely destroy them.

Finis SwiMP3 Goggles

Many people that are looking for MP3 goggles are looking for them to use with swimming. They can't use their iPod or regular MP3 player in the pool. They need a waterproof option.

Many of these aquatic exercisers turn to the Finis SwiMP3. A clarification here though, the Finis SwiMP3 isn't exactly a set of MP3 goggles. It's an underwater MP3 player that clips on to your goggles.

Finis released its first waterproof MP3 player in 2004. This early model actually wrapped around the back of the swimmer's head.

Swimming MP3 Goggles

MP3 goggles are an excellent option for swimming. Most people like to listen to music when they work out. However, it's a bad idea to use your iPod or regular MP3 player in the pool.

Typical digital music players aren't waterproof. Water can damage them and make them useless.

Waterproof MP3 goggles are specifially made for those that like to burn some calories aquatically. If you fall in this category and like a soundtrack for your workout, read on.
